In this talk, I will review some basic ideas behind the formalism of Bose-Einstein condensation and its role in modern Astrophysics and Cosmology. In other words, I will explore the possibility that dark matter could be formed by generic scalars or bosons in the form of a Bose-Einstein condensate and also discuss its eventual relationship with the so-called boson stars. Additionally, I will present some insights related to the dark energy equation of state interpreted in terms of “a gas of generalized elementary excitations” or exotic quasi-particles, hovering over a quiescent background or a condensed phase.
