The Emergent Future Technology program is a 12-week intensive program comprising technical seminars, workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experience in industrial projects in Osaka, Japan (EMFUTECH-2023). Guided by academy and industry experts innovating their fields, the program will give participants a well-rounded knowledge of cutting-edge emergent technologies. 

The Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and MIRAI Innovation Research Institute will sponsor one student to participate in the training program in emerging technologies of the future.

BUAP students are invited to participate in the selection process for the training program in emerging technologies of the future taught by the Mirai Innovation Research Institute in Osaka, Japan, to train highly specialized students. This program is done in collaboration with the Centro Interdisciplinario de Investigación y Enseñanza de la Ciencia (CIIEC).

The selected participant will be assigned a project provided by CIIEC-MIRAI collaboration. They will analyze the particular challenge, design and propose an innovative solution using emergent technologies, and develop the technical solution in partnership with peer participants guided by an assigned mentor.

The application call is open and will close on March 10th at 10:00 a.m.

Bases

  1. Students who wish to participate in this Call and be selected to enter the program must know issues related to emerging technologies and be in an active search for opportunities for professional and academic growth that allows them to impact developing technology that benefits Puebla's society.
  2. The scholarship will allow the benefited participants to challenge their skills and face technological and innovation challenges; it will provide the participants with complete knowledge about cutting-edge emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Augmented / Virtual Reality, Robotics, Computer Vision, IoT, Big Data, Cyber Security, Neurotechnologies, nanotechnologies, and aerospace technologies.
  3. The selection to participate in EMFUTECH 2023 will be carried out in four stages.
    • The first stage will be completed by submitting applications before March 10 at 10:00 a.m.
    • The selected students, announced on March 12 at 18:00, will participate in a workshop at the CIIEC facilities from March 13 to 17, 2023, from 16:00 to 18:00. CIIEC and MIRAI will grant certifications to the participants.
    • Finally, the workshop's best students, announced on  March 20th at 20:00, will go through one-to-one virtual interviews coordinated by MIRAI on  March 21st from 16:00 to 20:00.
    • The best student will be awarded a scholarship to carry out a 3-month training program in emerging technologies of the future, guided by academic and industry experts, consisting of technical seminars, tutorials, and hands-on industry projects in Osaka, Japan.
  4. The selected student will have to go for 12 weeks to the city of Osaka, Japan, where they will live a theoretical and practical experience, through which they will also create a project to detonate social, economic, and sustainable development in their communities and the state of Puebla through the instruments of innovation, science, technology, and global competitiveness, in the end, they will receive a certificate of participation, and a special recommendation allowing collaborating with the Japanese and Mexican industry.

Program Objectives

Develop the technical and innovation skills of the participant through the analysis of a technological challenge, in which they will investigate, design, propose, and develop an innovative solution using emerging technologies in collaboration with experts from Japan and Mexico, encouraging the participation and relationship of both countries, generating technology transfer links and academic exchange for the growth of the State of Puebla.

Requirements to participate in the Call

  1. Be a student enrolled in any of BUAP programs.  
  2. A minimum of B2 competence in English. It will be evaluated during an interview.
  3. Experience in any of the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or Web programming.
  4. Experience working on other technology projects is a plus (hackathons, research projects, projects technology management, prototype design, among others)
  5. Have a personal computer.
  6. Be able to travel to Japan from April 22 to July 16. (Including having their passports ready)
